Competition Preparation - by Miraclegro

Well,

My program's coming along, and it's almost there,
Today on my lutz, 'twas a bit of a scare,
I am building endurance with "Nordictrack" friend,
I hope this is the beginning, and not the end...

I'll go with guts, determination, and try not to "freeze",
I hope that I'll relax and not knock my knees...
The seamstress is making those costumes glitter,
so I know I'll look great, and can't become bitter,

I hope those Christmas holiday pounds,
will vanish by the time competition comes 'round,
"Have no fear" I calmly say,
I think I'm (almost) ready for competition day!

Adult skaters are great support I hear tell,
so even if I flop, they'll tell me I did well!
It's the experience I hear that matters most,
so to the decrepit, let's all give a toast!

Oh, I'm printing this out and reading it just before I compete! Thanks! This is wonderful! You should send it to Skating magazine and tell them to put it on the adult page... and the Ice Skating Institute publishes lots of poems by kids.. it would be great to submit it to them too. The more who are inspired by you the better!
