Just wanted to throw this out there b/c some ppl have posted here recently about entry level coaching and such.

I am keeping a journal of my coaching experiences along w my exp's as an adult skater. I started teaching grps in Feb 2004. The rink where I worked closed. Then I broke my ankle and was not able to take my job back when it reopened in fall 06. Since then, circumstances have led me to decide to give coaching a serious shot. As an adult-trained skater, it is very tough, as it probably is for anyone short of a former elite. As an adult, I did not pass a bevy of tests and compete as a child. So I do not have the same calibre of resume. However, I am a certified public school teacher and have taught academic subjects at various levels. I know how to teach.

Anyway, my most recent foray into coaching started this Sept. You can read about my experiences on my web site.

Go to
www.skatejournal.com/archive.html
for older entries (from 2/2004 and on and starting Sept 07)

or go to
www.skatejournal.com/current.html
to read about what I am doing now.

I've had some pretty eye-opening experiences.
Enjoy!
