Just wondering if anyone frequents the Las Vegas Ice Center (link in quote) in Vegas. They have a jump & spin class that DD wants to do while she's visiting in America, but I'm trying to find out if she has to be a member of ISI/USFSA to participate in these lessons?

I've tried emailing the skating director, but have not yet had a reply, and they leave here tomorrow morning at 5am.....

Even if you don't frequent there, would anyone here happen to know what it's like at most places in the USA?? I'm not sure whether I should send my daughter's State Association Membership card with her etc or not... it's 3pm now, and they leave at 5am tomorrow morning

it sounds the jump & spin is a group class and i doubt you'd need USFSA or ISI.

Just to be safe bring your Australian skating membership in case they have freestyles divided by test level.

If she is interested in private lessons, I doubt you need any membership information, I've had various international coaches who don't even know the USFSA system but do know the technique really well.

Oh, and btw, you're in vegas -- have fun!! People are pretty friendly there. :)

That's an ISI program and the registration fee for the group classes will include the LTS membership. The requirement is more for insurance purposes; however, that particular group class is for skaters who've passed the lower-level ISI Freestyle tests. I believe your daughter's in that skill range, but they may not accept her without the prerequisite Alpha - Delta tests. It's really their call, so you should contact them first.

Thanks for your help cecealias & Isk8NYC. I've sent her off with her skates, tights and association card, but I let my mum know she may have to join ISI to go into this group class. I think from memory the website said it was relatively cheap ($15??) so it's not as though it's a huge outlay, and I know she'll enjoy doing the class if she is allowed to.
