View Full Version : Do you decorate your skating bags?

I decorated mine.
The first picture is for my small skating bag, it's an application I made out of cotton material with the zigzag on the sewing machine. I broke the pedal of the sewing machine (well, it had to go sometime, seeing as the thing is over 50 years old) and for my larger skating bag, I painted on it with acryl paint. The cotton cloth which I wipe my brushes with after using didn't come clean at all even after boil-washing it, so I'm hoping the acryl paint can handle rain as well.

Especially the right skate didn't come out too nicely on the photo, it's all a bit sharper than my camera lets me photograph.

So, did you decorate your bag? If you have, post pictures!

I have a zuca bag and the only decoration I put on it is a bumper sticker that says, "I love to ice skate." I don't think I'll be doing much else to it either.

Looks good!

Nope- I don't decorate mine. I actually have two a "rink" bag and a "traveling" bag. And they also both double as stamping bags (for when I travel with my stamps). They are Lands End totes- and the medium one (rink bag) is monogrammed with my initials and the large one (travel tote- fits snacks, costumes, tights, makeup) has my name monogrammed on it.

Large Bag: http://www.landsend.com/pp/ZipTopTotes-66223_123835_1343.html?CM_MERCH=SRCH (In blue, IMO a bit too big)
Medium bag: http://www.landsend.com/pp/OpenTopTotes-76275_118740_1342.html?CM_MERCH=SRCH (In red, I want more this bag is fantastic!)

Sorry, I don't have any pics to post, but my mom embroiders and she has embroidered my initials and a figure skate in my favorite colors on all of my skating bags over the years. Thirteen years later, she still does it. It's very sweet!

I don't decorate them, usually. I have a "practice" bag that is a plain purple color, but my "competition" bag was given to us by our club as gifts for Sectionals/Nationals, and that is in the club colors (red, black and white) with the club name and my name embroidered on it.

Being a male skater, I bought mine pre-decorated... ;)

Hey, was Eddie Bauer a former figure skater and is now selling these ultra-hip designer bags...?

Those look great Sessy!
I'm not that crafty. My bag is plain and boring. I have this bag in blue: http://www.transpack.net/Skate/ICE2.htm

They look fab Sessy!

As my bag is covered with flowery bits, there's not much room for decoration! Maybe I can find some dangly bits somewhere . . .

I have a Zuca with two inserts - light blue and presently purple. I have a skater frog I got in France hanging on the frame and a Yukon Bold bear coffee sticker on the bag. It was from starbucks and on my skating sweater and fell off.

Stamping bags? Travel with stamps? *puzzled look* You mean like stamps on envelopes?

I have almost the exact same bag in dark red and grey, mine only doesn't have the extra handle on top, that's the smaller bag I talked of that I made the first application for :)
Bauer is most famous for making hockey skates here, so everybody keeps asking if I play hockey when I have that bag, so I wanted to clarify. And then I decided to decorate the other bag too...
It's funny at the other end of the world they have the same bags! Or are you from UK?

But it ventilates! And it's multifunctional!

The ventilation is a fantastic feature - it does mean I don't have to worry about unpacking my whole bag when I get home to let my skates breathe!

It's great as a backpack too - on lesson days, I have to take absolutely everything in it - full change of clothes, skates, guards and other skating accoutrements, diary, purse etc. etc. and it all fits! Bit heavy on those days though

Yup - I really do like it. I only meant that it wasn't decorated like yours:) I wanted it in pink, but it was sold out in pink (and every other color except blue) at Christmas-time. It is a great bag though. It holds everything I drag to the rink.

You would be absolutely amazed at how much stuff I have, and carry with me when I go to friends to stamp.

I have a blue Transpack, and I love it. I guess I've decorated it, if you count hanging stuff on it. At the moment, there's a name/address tag, a keychain thing that holds a tube of lip balm, a little stuffed penguin (because my program last year was to March of the Penguins), a Jackson Ultima keychain, and a keychain from Buffet Crampon/Boosey & Hawkes (who made my clarinets).

Mine is a canvas laptop bag I bought in a closing-down sale for half nothing - bought Husband an identical one, but his new skates don't fit. Mine did have my initial on it in fabric paint, but it didn't really show; just enough to distinguish it from Husband's. And it sometimes has a pretty zip-pull, but doesn't at the moment.

Hmm more creativity for now (hey, with that ankle, I still can't skate so... well)

Leather soles, lycra shoes and dress, cardboard gold-spray-painted blades.

My daughter has the backpack with ventilation on the sides for the skates. I know a 4 year old wont be taking them out and making sure they get aired out. And i normally carry it. I do love her bag and have considered getting one for myself. We just sew her patches on her bag. That is all the decoration she has other then a skate zipper pull on the zipper!
