Hi Everybody,

I just thought of this. Why doesn't everybody say what there goals are for the 2007 and 2008 skating season.

Pass Bronze moves and freestyle

*maybe* pass silver moves by the end of the season.

Compete in bronze at AN for sure, but hopefully some more by the end of this calendar year (not sure what's local, can't travel far right now)

Learn: camel, back sit spin, axel
Make better/higher/more consistent: loop, flip, lutz

Find: a skating dress I like that fits well (perhaps tougher to achieve than axel)

After reviewing my goals for last year, mine are pretty much the same (again) for this season....
Jumps: land the loop SUCCESSFULLY on ONE FOOT!!!; re-learn the flip; touch on the lutz; work on getting the toe-loop better; attack the salchow with more gusto (there is a double in there somewhere!)
Spins: Center....I need to find my center!!!!; hit the backspin with considerably more success; find a sit spin in me somehow!
Footwork: Get those back 3's for the ISI 4, although I will be competing at ISI 3 again this year;
Overall: have more power, flow, grace & beauty on the ice
Teaching: not suck at it!!!

Get an axel and two doubles consistent. Pass up through Preliminary if not PreJuv moves and compete are PrePre or Preliminary twice. And I am determined to do a biellmann some day.

Keep on working on Bronze moves...maybe test in a year...

Get that tuck behind so I can test the cha cha

3 revolution spin from back crossovers.

Learn a salchow.

that is quite enough. Probably too much

Let's see now....

For the rest of this year:

Get FS and artistic program to the point where I can do them comfortably. This consists of...
Get Loops and flips consistent
Get the backsit low enough to be considered "sitting"
Try to get a "show stop."
Work on landing lutz cleanly.
Work on getting the camel to a nice spiral position and 4 revs.2008:

By April: Get FS and artistic program to the point where I can do them in my sleep.
Start landing lutz cleanly.
Work on camel-sit.
Work on forward sit-back sit combo
Start getting more <single jump>-loop combos
Work on Silver Moves
Work on .... AXEL!!! (GULP!!!)

I need two jumps (Waltz, Toe Loop, maybe Sal) and two spins (upright and sit) so I can enter Bronze Free at the Adult Championships in Ontario in April. The jumps are minuscule right now, the upright spin is 1 revolution short and the sit just isn't happening yet! Hopefully I will have them all together to do local competitions in November and February as preludes to Nationals.

I think that's enough on my plate for now

1. Passing the Interbrons MIF (dutch system)
2. Consistent, centered 1-foot spin of 6 revs plus (it's 12-16 now, but travels).
3. Bielman spiral on both sides
4. Consistent, centered change-foot spin, sit spin and camel spin, 4-6 revs.
5. Get ankle back in shape and jump again
6. Get all singles back and consistent, except axel
7. Start rotating & landing the axel (doesn't need to be consistent)
8. Test interbrons freestyle (dutch system) if goals 1-6 are met.

And, if any time is left for "just for fun" stuff:
9. All types of 3-turns (back 3s, "tegendrieen" whatever that is in English, etc) like peanuts & at speed
10. More speed, more power, more flow, more stamina, more articity
11. Putting together a new programme for artistic skates.
12. See if I could learn to make a 3-turn in a bielman spiral. I can on the floor... Now on ice please!

You know- I'm not sure what my goals for the year are. I had a real concrete goal for the summer (PB MITF), so it's hard to not have a goal for the year.

So by the end of the 2007-2008 season I hope to have:
#1. Pass PB Freestyle test.
#2. Be able to cross leg in upright forward and back spin.
#3. Be able to do something someone other than my coach would be able to tell is a sit spin.
#4. Increase height on waltz jump and toe loop. Get off the ground on half lutz, complete a loop jump

My general goals are the year are to work my hardest in power class, and to get a feel for synchro skating.

By the end of 2007:

Get through all my moves and freestyle tests up to Gold Level. I take my Pre-Bronze Moves and Freestyle test on Saturday. I'm really nervous. God, my MITF are just not up to my standards. I put so much emphasis on the more difficult elements that I find some of the basic stuff harder than it should be. I want to change that ASAP. It is getting better though.
Land my double axel. I am so tired of falling on this jump. I really need to land this thing so I that I can step up to the adult masters novice level. That would be nice.
More consistent doubles. . . especially my double loop.
Finish choreography for my FS.

For 2008:

Compete to the best of my ability. I just want to skate well. . . Medal or not!
I would like to progress to my first triple jump in 2008.
Complete my Intermediate MITF and FS Tests.

2007:

Return to the ice following baby.
Work like a demon off-ice to get core strength back (easier said than done post-partum).
That doesn't seem like much, but I'll likely be off ice until the end of October.

2008:

Work on getting back speed and power post-partum.
Three turns on one foot, dammit! I'm just an idiot about these...
If I quit being a weenie on three turns, test PB MIF and Free.
Get into forward scratch spin on one foot.
Get waltz jump, toe loop, and salchow OFF the ice. Make 1/2 flip and 1/2 loop bigger. At this point, I think I might get the flip before the toe loop and slachow, LOL!
I'm interested in testing dance... I need to bring this up with my coach.
if I take PB MIF, work on Bronze moves (which I greatly prefer to PB -- I LOVE the power stroking).
Backspin???

But mostly, get back into shape so I don't hold my team back.

2007:
Get strength back in both legs, but especially the one I had surgery on.
Get back in shape in general (lose weight and be able to do more than 1 hour of skating without my legs feeling like jello)
Get singles comfortable again and lots bigger
Get flying spins back
Get more comfortable on Intermediate MITF
Get comfortable with program, finish choreographing last 15-20s

2008
Pass Intermediate MITF
Get axel consistent
Get dbl sal and loop consistent
Better, faster spins
Harder spin combos
Pass Gold FS

Scarlett
08-22-2007, 06:07 PM
2007
Pass preliminary dances
Camel spin

2008
Sit spin
Land all singles with loop as the second jump of the combo
Axel preparation
Bronze moves

Thin-Ice

2007:

-- Conquer new program AND make it look good (at least for me)
-- 4+ revs. on camel spin consistently
-- Skate Interp. program well enough for my coach to keep smiling all the way through it. Right now, she smiles until I do something stupid (forget the footwork, fall out of the sitspin, etc.), then she just starts laughing.

2008:
-- Pass Silver FS
-- Take and pass (and I consider those two separate events :D ) Juvenile MITF
-- 6+ revs. on camel spin consistently
-- Sit/backsit in good position on both spins
-- Do real FI & FO single twizzles
-- Lutz/loop combination so it looks like it was intentional;)

End of 2007 (Our season finishes in with Oxford Seniors in early November, and restarts with the Dune of Flanders cup in early December! Although arguably that's the end of the season, not the beginning of the next!):

Compete at Bristol and Oxford without making more fools of ourselves than we can help.

Over the winter: Increase our speed, increase our speed, increase our speed. New free dance for 2008. New free programme for Husband, hopefully in time for Dunkerque. Increase our speed, increase our speed.....

2008: Usual competitions, hope to not come last (improbable).

My goals for 2007-2008 season:

Pass Preliminary Skills & Bronze Interpretive

2007 season:
lived through it skated like a silver lady even though I am a novice. One hip surgery down...one more to go. ( 2 surgeries in 15-16 months )
Get new hip (resurfaced with r-bhr) this year 2007.

2008 season:
Rehab slowly... right that went soooo well last time. Dance maybe, moves hopefully if all goes phenomenally well.

2009 season:
Compete ... maybe.:halo: :halo: :halo:
