IJS Require?

HELP. Our competition chair moved away and left in in the hands of someone who hasn't had a lot of experience with competions. She's having a hard time, has already sent the sanctions request to the wrong person twice.

I agreed to help, because at least I've had experience with my daughter competing and helping out at competitions but know nothing about planning one. I have been going all over the web and the USFS site looking for manuals and checklists.

We are waiting to hear back from the referee but can anyone tell us if it is required to us the IJS judging system at a certain leve at non qualifying compl. I understand and agree it is a good idea to use it because everyone is planning thier programs with that in mind. HOWEVER - our competition is in November and there is a LOT more involved with it and we have basically two clueless people trying to do this and if dont' have to use it, I think we need to stick with what we know this year and get started earlier next year. If it's required...we need to know NOW so we can get on with getting the extra people we need like tecnical specialists and making arrangements for accounting.

Got my questioned answered. It's not required. Oh vey. It's a bad sign when I'm the one that knows the most about running a competition (and that aint much) in our club. :roll: :frus:

Glad you were able to find your answer so quickly. Many of our local clubs are still using 6.0 all the way up through Senior. A lot of that is because of the expense involved. We had one competition one week that offered IJS judging, and one two weeks later that used 6.0. The results weren't that much different between the two events.

Right. In order to use the new system, you have to rent the equipment, have different accountants, judges, and technical specialists. There is no way you could set that up on short notice. Shoot for next year, but start planning and lining up your judges and technical specialists as soon as this one is over.

Our competitions are probably run slightly differently to yours, but being competition secretary simply isn't fun! Enormous kudos to you for having volunteered!
