View Full Version : Point values for Flying combo spins?

So... I'm diving into the unknown depths and putting together my first Gold FS program 8O

I've been sort of-kind of- following IJS over the years, but now that I look at the SOV sheet, I am confused, particularly about the spins.

Right now, I have planned... with the assumed abbreviations:

1) flying camel - back attitude (FCoSp1)
2) back camel - back sit - forward sit - broken leg (CCoSp...1 or 2)
3) camel - sit - layback (CoSp1)

But... is that right? I can't find anything in the IJS communications about a flying combination spin. Should I actually be calling it a CoSp1? If so, do I need to change it to fit under the new Well-Balanced Program rules?

And finally, if the flying spin is indeed OK and it's a combination, what is the point value of it?

Thanks in advance!

It is a flying combo spin (worth 1.7 points). The point value is the same as a combo spin (that is, it is a combo spin with a flying entrance). It is kinda confusing since there is no explicit listing for a flying combo spin.

The neat thing is that if you were to do, say, a back camel/back sit/forward sit vs. a flying camel/back sit/forward sit, the 2 spins would be of a "different nature." The first would be CCoSp1, and the second would be FCCoSp1.

Now add some more features to up your levels! :P

Yep! What NoVa said. :)

Thanks! I knew this would be a good place to inquire.

Any difference as to where the flying spin is? I have a front camel - fly/jump to back camel, back sit.
Just wondering.

The "F" in the code for a flying spin refers only to the entry.
So a camel-jump-camel/back sit and a camel-change-camel/back sit would both be labeled as CCoSp.

Too bad, the jump camel is definitely harder than forward camel to back camel.

This is right. Out of your three spins, number 2 would get you the most points -- a feature for the backwards entry and another for the broken leg. You'll probably want to add an upright in there somewhere though, since you used to need it under the old rules and it can't hurt. If you can come out of the broken leg in to an upright and change edge, your spin would be a level 3.

Hi,
No broken leg - a forward camel, jump to back camel and Hamil to back sit.
I was just wondering, I don't really care to do fs anymore, but someone saw it and wanted to know. I'd possibly do it for pairs, but not likely if it's of little more value than a regular cam-change cam, back sit.

If I don't remember wrong, the jump from forward to back would count as a "difficult change of foot" to increase the level...

Chow is correct. F refers to the entry only.

Exactly. No difficult move is unrewarded. ;)

But that jump cannot be in an upright spin or TO an upright spin

And some, if not most, specialists will not count that type of transition as difficult (though I think they should). Instead, they will be looking more for the arabian transition. Plus, as one caller told me, if you do the jump incorrectly (that is, jump too far away from the original forward camel spin circle), then the back camel might be called as a separate spin!

Thanks, I think of pull butterflies when I do them, then your hips are flat, and you don't wander to far.
