Any thoughts as to why there were only 2 teams entered in Championship Dance this year?

2002: 5 (Ann Arbor)
2003: 5 (Ann Arbor)
2004: 10 (Lake Placid)
2005: 5 (Overland Park)
2006: 6 (Dallas)

So what's up with dance this year? Seems odd.

There actually were 3, but one team withdrew after the compulsories due to injury.

I wondered if the otherwise low numbers had something to do w/ the rule change re. test levels/competition history....now you must skate Championship if you passed a certain level before a certain age (should know that, but don't off the top of my head)--making it more like a masters event now. Perhaps the other teams decided to stay w/ gold & keep it separate?

One team was injured for PacCoast Sectionals and couldn't compete (Radlick/Johnson), so that would have made 4.

There were 2 teams who withdrew from Pacific Sectionals.

And no dance teams from Easterns or Mids were represented at AN.

Sort of interesting that the numbers in Dance are declining, while the number in Pairs is steadily increasing. Would be interesting to take a look at why, because I remember a time when the Dancers way out numbered the Pair teams at Adult Nationals.

I believe that at least 1 Easterns team who might have competed was out due to injury/surgery.
