Since it has been almost two month since I had this lovely thing, some of the affects still linger on. Adult Skate Week at Lake Placid showed how much my stamina has been cut. Also it has made my already weak left side, that much weaker...

The good news is that according to some sports medicine specialists who know about this disease and it's aftermath have told me that the affects will go away in another 2 to 3 months. One of the coaches at my rink told me today that basically, you have gone backwards by about 4 to 5 months.

I saw my coach today to set up my lesson schedule and she told me that on Thursday we will just see where I stand and go from there. It looks like my grand and glorious plans of doing pre-pres next month will have to be pushed back to the first of the year.

I am grateful that there is no permament damage but I am just not pateint about these things!! I am even going to take beginning group dance lessons this fall just to get the old feet and body working again......

That's really rotten. Just give it time and you'll be strong again before you know it though. Maybe you might consider taking your Pre-Bronze MIF now since the adult track has begun. And just think - soon enough you'll be in high demand as a dance partner and thinking about testing your Preliminary dances.

Good luck!

Hang in there with it -- it will keep getting better.

We live in "Lyme Central" and know so many people who have had a bout. You are very lucky to have caught it as early as you did and jumped right into treatment. One of our friends ended up with Bell's palsy (half his face paralyzed for months) and another has had ongoing neurological problems; both were diagnosed long after initial exposure.

You've probably already learned more than you ever wanted to know about this scourge, but there are some good resources in our area -- you can p.m. me if you're interested.

---"If ability matched desire, I should be doing quads"---

We all have our setbacks and adversities, but we can't and won't allow them to stop us. We are built of stronger stuff than that, otherwise we wouldn't have started this adventure to begin with. And we did start it, we live it, and nothing will stop us from the passion we feel.

Why? Because we all have the desire.

Maybe we won't win this time, but we'll keep coming back. And maybe we won't win the next, but we'll keep coming back. And maybe we'll never win, but we'll keep coming back.

You'll get there. I have no doubt.
