I used to be able to look at all the different GAM skates and stuff on their website. Now all I get is the front page, no links to get into stuff and the scroll bar won't work.

I've had this problem for a couple of months at least, and they don't reply to my e-mails.

Can someone else have a go and see if they can get into it please?

I suppose I could just view this as nature's way of telling me that my next pair of boots shouldn't be GAM, but my daughter wears them, and I'd still like to be able to research her next pair there.

Gam Skates (http://www.gamskates.com/) works fine for me. I get a Flash animation asking whether I want English or French, and clicking the relevant button takes me into the site in that language.

Without knowing which browser you use, I'd guess at one of two options:

- It has Flash disabled (find the relevant option in your browser settings)
- Flash isn't installed (download it from here: Adobe Flash website (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash))

I'm trying to get a pair of GAM skates replaced at the moment, due to a manufacturing fault, but apparently they're on holiday. If all else fails, perhaps they'll answer your emails when they get back?

HTH,

minty

Thanks Minty. I used the link, downloaded Flash, but it still doesn't work.
I also finally found the Add On management, and Flash isn't disabled. Maybe it wasn't installed before, and when I restart the computer Flash will instal.

Karen - are you able to try a different browser?

Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/) and Opera (http://www.opera.com/) work on Windows, Mac and Linux, and might be worth trying if you aren't using one of them already.

I'm afraid I'm only an amateur geek, so if that doesn't work, I defer to the knowledge of a professional computer wizard :halo:

Gam's website works fine for me. Do you have the right URL http://www.gamskates.com/main.html?

The entire website is readable through Flash only and it looks like older versions (<7) need not apply. So if you're not on the latest version of windows or OS X, you're out of luck.

(There's no need to do a complete flash only website to sell a static item like figure skates, but I'll save my rant forWeb Pages that Suck/ (http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/) )

Try looking through one of the skating stores, Figure Skating Boutique in Canada has the new Gam models on their website (http://skatingboutique.com/fsb/servlet/com.bst.servlets.EStoreWebControlServlet?object=Es toreGenTreeLib&method=GetProductList&categoryuno=181&refresh=true)

I've got Windows XP professional, so it's up to date, and I have installed the latest Flash, but still can't get into the website.

Can't understand it. I'll have to look at other browser options I guess - once I work out how.

LOL, the site does not work for me in Konqueror, Firefox, Seamonkey, or Opera. However it's just the HTML that seems broken, and you can actually get it to load by clicking this link:
http://www.gamskates.com/main.swf

However when I do that I only see about 3/4 of what should show up...I can click around the links on the bottom, but for instance if I try to view a boot description it simply doesn't show it. That's probably got something to do with the fact that it supposedly needs flash 8 or higher and flash 7 is the latest available for my system... Whomever made that site for them needs to be stabbed. ;)

Thanks for trying Casey. Using that link gets me what I was getting anyway, just the intro screen and no options to choose from, and no scroll bar. I did try Opera, didn't help.

Actually, I must try one of the computers at work, that will tell me whether it is my computer at home that is having the problem. But I guess if others can view it, it must be my problem.

I can see everything on their site using IE6.0 and Flash Player 7.

However, I have Macromedia Dreamweaver/Fireworks/etc. installed on my computer. Maybe that's why it works for me.

In any case, what did you want to look up? I'll repost it in plain text if I can.

Thanks Isk8NY, I didn't have anything specific in mind right now. My daughter is currently in Gams, and shortly will need a new pair. I like to browse, make comparisons etc.

what are they? are they free download sort of things, or do they cost?

Well, no matter what I do, I cannot get into the Gam website. I tried other browsers, even different computers. I made sure Flash is up to date and enabled.

I can wangle around to get the blades directory, but cannot get into any of the main site. I've used links from other sites, I've tried the French version. I get the home page of it, but cannot get any link to anything within the site.

Is someone able to post me a link to somewhere within the boots section so I can see if I can access stuff from there.

I have decided to buy Gams again for my daughter, so I really want to find out more about their current models suitable for a nearly 10 year old doing single jumps, and their sizing. Every shop site gives me different instructions how to work out the sizing.

Help!

Stop looking, I found it. For some reason what happens on my computer screen is that scrolling on the home page of this site doesn't work, and I couldn't get to the menu options at the bottom of the page.

This afternoon I have tried all sorts of things, and finally went to full-screen view, which finally gave me the menu options.

At last, after months of trying, I can get into this site. !
