Our family will be visiting the DC area Fourth of July, but my daughter is in her first competition back home the weekend after. We are looking for a rink for her to get a practice in while we are there. We are staying at the Embassy Suites in the Capitol Area. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Great facility, and it will be worth the drive:

Mt. Vernon in Alexandria Va, Bowie Ice Rink in Bowie MD, and the Gardens in Laurel MD are all good bets. There are many local ice rinks in the area and they all have freestyle ice and in the winter fairly empty public sessions which allow figure skating available.

For links to all the area rinks go to the Washington FSC at
http://www.wfsc.net/

Click on Affiliated Rinks on the left side of the home page.

Ft Dupont would be very close to the hotel, but they really don't offer any FS sessions.
Mt. Vernon, Cabin John, and Wheaton are all within a short drive of the Capitol area and offer a good variety of sessions.
Also, scroll down the page to Other Rinks and check out Tucker Road Ice Rink.

Hope you enjoy your visit and good luck at the competition!!
