Hi,

My daughter is really interested in auditioning for the Stars, Stripes, and Skates show. Our neighbors did it last year, and they got to skate at Nassau Colliseum! However, we haven't heard anything for this year..

It would be great is some one could let me know some information. Thanks!

Did you check the Stars, Stripes, and Skates website? Maybe it was just updated, but it has a tentative October 2004 date. It is a September 11th memorial charity fundraiser to provide scholarships to the children of terrorism victims. (I'm not sure if they mean 9/11 victims, or post-9/11 victims?)

On the site, there is a link for "Future Talent Search" that has the skater registration form. The skater has to perform a 1.5 minute (or less) routine. Be aware that there is a $50 audition "donation." It's probably tax-deductible if you get a receipt or keep a copy of your cancelled check.

A skater from our rink participated two years ago and his family felt he was chosen because of his energy and friendliness. (Both are very true - think "Stage Presence.") The family skipped it last year because of the audition fee.

Good luck!

Try outs are at the RInx on July 18th at 1 pm (Sunday) I just registered my daughter to try out. YOu can register in advance or that day at the rinx. If you do a web search for stars stripes and skates you should be able to get the info. I dont have the info anymore. You can even register on the website.

I heard from someone that not too many skaters have signed up. I hope more sign up. They also hosted a skateathon back in April (I think) my daughter participated with a bunch of friends she thought it was pretty cool.

Received an e-mail a few days ago about Skating Pros participating in SSS. I'm not really interested at the moment, but I thought some other pros might want to participate. Call 212 533 0778 for more info.
