Just had to share...
After two years of much frustration, I finally landed not just one, but EIGHT axels in practice!!
They aren't perfect--I still cannot "convert" fully over my right side, so my left leg is kind of bent and next to my right leg instead of being crossed over it, but hey, I'll take what I can get.
Don't know exactly what "worked" in the end (apart from many, many failed attempts and getting back up for more), but it did help to think "up and OVER," and I still really have to think about LANDING the jump (meaning, "put that right toe back DOWN on the ice!") after stepping up into it.
But WHEW, what a happy relief. :D
